In 1991 I had a ski accident and tore the ACL in my right knee. I was advised by the surgeon at the time not to have the knee repaired if the injury would not affect my lifestyle.  At the time I was 59 years old. I continued to ski with a brace and bike ride. As the cartilage began to wear I would get gel injections in the knee every six months until that no longer gave me pain relief.  I then received cortisone injections until that no longer provided pain relief.  I was then faced with the choice of a knee replacement or stem cell therapy.  I am now 86 years old and did not want to risk surgery and the long recuperation period.  I decided to go with stem cell therapy at the Santa Barbara Regeneration Health Clinic in January 2019. I t has been approximately 3 months since the initial injection I can say the knee is stable and pain-free at this time.  I no longer ski but I continue riding my bike approximately 80 miles a week and jog almost every day.  I am told the cartilage should continue to repair itself and will be evaluating that in another 3 months.

A year or so ago, I woke up with shoulder pain.  At first I thought I had pulled a muscle  and with acupuncture treatments it would go away.  Unfortunately the pain got worst, I woke and  went to bed with pain, I found myself crying, and becoming depress. Almost all activities of daily living were affected. Even carrying my purse was uncomfortable. I depended on my husband and daughter who is 14 to help me get dress; my 45 year old body felt like it was 70.  I had an xray done which showed mild osteoarthritis. MDs offered pain medications and steroid injections but I was not interested in masking the pain.  I decided to learn more about stem cell therapy, that’s when I found SBRHC which had a free seminar on stem cells.   I had my shoulder injected in January of 2019 at SBRHC.  I noticed after three days, my pain decreased- I was able to raise my arm with minimal discomfort.   After one month, pain was 50% improved, which made getting dress in the morning easier.  By the third month I was 80% better, feeling like a new person, I can do things I wasn’t able to do a year ago.  Today I still wake up pain free, being able to bake,  shower and wash my hair without any discomfort.  Stem cell therapy has changed my life.   Many thanks to  SBRHC for helping me restore my shoulder without surgery.

Charlie has been treating me for Sjogrens disease and severe chronic dry eye since  2016.  He has attended numerous workshops and seminars and done much research to be able to offer me the best treatment possible.  What a difference this has made in easing my eye pain and thus bettering my quality of life.  Charlie is gentle and caring and always concerned for my physical and mental well- being.

After physicians and pain specialists told me that they could do nothing more to treat my disease or relieve the the disabling symptoms, Charlie’s acupuncture treatments have given me a new lease on life.  Thank you so much Charlie and Joy!

I have suffered from dry eyes for several years.  The condition dramatically worsened after cataract surgery in January 2018.  My ophthalmologist prescribed Restasis to help ward off the dry eyes. I had used the Restasis twice a day for 2.5 months when I started the dry eye-acupuncture treatments. After the first few treatments, I noticed a big difference.  My eyes were not scratchy or extremely tired by the end of the day like they had been before the acupuncture treatments. I also noticed a much clearer vision when doing close work or driving for long periods during the day or night.  After the 6th treatment, I stopped using Restasis and only use the natural drops offered by Charles.  My eyes continue to feel well lubricated, my vision is clear and the large floater that I used to see has subsided. The results have been dramatic for me. I truly appreciate this treatment to improve the quality of my vision.  I highly recommend this treatment to any suffering with dry eyes and floaters.

I am so grateful to Charlie and Joy! I had never tried acupuncture before and was referred by my ortho doc for a neck injury. I was a little nervous about trying something new and definitely not sure if it would work. I am amazed at how helpful it has been! Charlie always takes a lot of time to hear the issues and is so competent in his practice! Joy is easy to work with and always helpful. I have made a ton of progress in my injury since I started acupuncture. It’s amazing to me. Thanks for all you guys do!

Soon after the Thomas fire and subsequent mudslide, I found Charles Sciutto at Santa Barbara Regenerative Medicine. Suffering from acute stress-related health issues, I was in great distress. Visits to Medical Doctors proved unsatisfactory as they weren’t able to advise acceptable treatment for my conditions. Upon entering the office, one is immediately welcomed by Joy at the front desk. The atmosphere is calm, friendly, and reassuring. Herbal formulas are adjusted to my specific needs with each visit and the acupuncture treatments are relaxing and invigorating at the same time. Charles Sciutto has been a life-saver, bringing me back into well-being and balance through regular acupuncture treatments and custom herb formulas. I highly recommend Healing Heart Herbs and Acupuncture for their empathetic approach to medicine as a harmonious way to recovery.

My name is Bryan and I suffer from chronic regional pain due to hip trauma, herniated and slipped disks in the lower and middle spine, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, and problems with the psoas muscle. These issues all started with a surfing injury and have progressed a worsened over several years. I have had almost every type of imaging possible and the most painful area behind my iliac crest remains undiagnosed and is the epicenter of my severe pain which radiates into my ribs and lower back. When combined with the upper back issues, my pain is completely debilitating causing simple tasks such as driving, playing with my daughters, and sitting at a desk difficult and uncomfortable. I came to Santa Barbara Regenerative Medicine as a last stitch effort to control my pain upon reentering the workforce. I had tried two acupuncture practitioners before without any success beyond temporary (less than 1/2-day) of relief.

On my first visit and examination, Charlie thoroughly examined me and showed concern for my situation. I immediately took note of his kindness and technical approach to his practice. It seems by the observation that the learning never stops and Charlie is always on the forefront of the technologies behind the healing processes. As someone who does not like needles and being unconvinced and skeptical of this type of treatment, I was comforted by the calm office environment, physiological data being collected such as pulse and tenderness, and immediate learning about blood flow to an injured area as one of the primary drivers for pain relief and healing over time. I did not believe. By the grace of God and Charlie’s technical knowledge, my first treatment yielded immediate pain relief that held on and allowed me to work the entire week. On subsequent visits, I learned more about my injury and was encouraged by knowing that with enough blood flow to the areas in pain and good overall physical health, I could get by and go on with my life with the seemingly impossible situation and life-changing chronic pain. I also learned about gut and liver health and how they play a role in pain and inflammation. For those issues, Charlie prescribed Chinese herbs and probiotics to balance my liver which helped with both sleep disturbance in the middle of the night and pain. They worked just as he said they would and I now take them regularly to stay balanced. It was a true turnaround for me, even though I do not like the needles as mentioned above. For my needle fear, Charlie kindly offered different size needles, helped keep me occupied by talking about the family while placing them and left me with a bell to ring if one needle moved in treatment and caused discomfort. I know I would only feel safe and comfortable with Charlie, especially having tried acupuncture a few times unsuccessfully.

As for scheduling, Joy is always responsive and I never felt worried about getting in. If they were planning to be gone for a seminar or vacation, Joy would proactively contact me to make sure I was not left without care or my much-needed herbs and probiotics during their absence. It is this family feel from both Charlie and Joy that makes Santa Barbara Regenerative Medicine so great and my first stop for consultation for just about any physical issue. I recently learned that Charlie and Joy are growing the practice to provide stem cell treatments along with acupuncture. Since my hip and iliac crest injuries are hard to diagnose and seemingly permanent, I hope to try those treatments in the near future to further correct the iliac crest pain that has been so difficult.

In summary, I fully recommend Santa Barbara Regenerative Medicine as the best acupuncture and wellness practice in Santa Barbara. Thank you Charlie and Joy for all you have done for me and my family. I am truly grateful
